Our Story
Drip Spring Hollow Farm began in 2011 with just four hens in our suburban backyard. What started as a simple desire to produce fresh, wholesome eggs gradually grew into something much bigger. Over the years, our flock expanded, and in 2021 we took a major step—leaving our suburban lifestyle behind to bring our vision to life on 130 acres in Western Jefferson County.
Today, Drip Spring Hollow Farm specializes in producing farm-fresh eggs from both chickens and ducks, raised using a free range, forest based model that allows our birds to express natural behaviors in a healthy, diverse environment. We also raise our pigs in a natural, forested setting that supports their well-being and allows them to live and forage as they were meant to. We believe that food grown on healthy land, through thoughtful and responsible farming, results in truly healthy food.
As stewards of this land, we are committed to caring for its long-term health while supporting the well-being of our animals and our community. Our goal is to provide families in the Birmingham Metro area with a trusted farm to table option when sourcing their food.

Meet the Farmers: Britnie Niedermeier
Britnie Niedermeier is a co-founder of Drip Spring Hollow Farm. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and Industry from Kansas State University. She previously attended Auburn University, and spent several years working with companion animals in various veterinary clinical settings— experiences that helped shape her understanding of animal care and welfare.
She is certified through the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and Pork Quality Assurance® Plus (PQA Plus®) programs, and is a member of The Poultry Science Association, The American Society of Animal Science, The American Meat Science Association, and the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.
Her education and passion inspired her to start the farm with a clear purpose: to raise happy hens that provide quality eggs and to raise pigs that are given the ability to grow in a natural, forested environment. Britnie is passionate about production animal welfare, with a focus on supporting both the physical and psychological health of livestock. She puts an emphasis on proper nutrition by applying sound nutritional science to support health, productivity, and overall well-being.
Meet the Farmers: Alan Niedermeier
Alan Niedermeier is a co-founder of Drip Spring Hollow Farm. Growing up on a small farm in Union Grove, Alabama, he developed a deep appreciation for working with the land from an early age. He was influenced by his mother’s love of exotic birds and poultry, and his grandfather taught him foundational farm skills such as planting a garden, operating a tractor, setting fencing posts, and running barbed wire—experiences that grounded him in the daily rhythms and responsibilities of farm life.
With a strong passion for horticulture, Alan oversees the plant production and manages the farm's market garden. He is a Certified Prescribed Burn Manager (CPBM) through the Alabama Forestry Commission, as well as a licensed Home Builder and Mechanical Contractor, with additional licenses in refrigeration and gas fitting through the State of Alabama. His diverse skill set supports the farm’s vision for responsible land management, sound infrastructure, and long-term sustainability.
